Why should you choose polarized sunglasses?

UV rays are not only harmful to our skin – they are also harmful to our eyes. The sun’s rays reflected from snow, sand or water can be particularly dangerous.

Polarized sunglasses contain a special built-in filter that blocks bright, reflected light and helps you see sharper and clearer, increasing contrast and clarity of vision, reducing glare and eyestrain.

How do polarized lenses work?

When sunlight strikes a flat surface, the light reflected from the surface tends to polarize – the rays then travel in a horizontal direction, creating an unpleasant and dangerous glare that reduces visibility. What we perceive as a blinding glare is usually a reflection of horizontal light.

Polarized sunglasses only let in vertical light and thus block the glare of light reflected from flat surfaces, such as water, snow, glass, roads, etc.

When should you wear polarized sunglasses?

Wearing polarized sunglasses is especially recommended while driving because other cars, windshields and wet roads can create a dazzling glare. Polarized lenses reduce glare, improve visibility and make driving safer.

In fact, it is advisable to wear them whenever you go out in the sun, especially at the seaside because the harmful solar radiation is much higher there due to the reflection from the surfaces of the sea and sand.

GOOD TO KNOW: Experts recommend wearing sunglasses in cloudy weather all the more because even then over a third of UV rays reach the eyes!

Polarized lenses not only help reduce eyestrain, but they also increase visual clarity and comfort. They are a great choice for most outdoor sports and activities.

Put yourself and your eye health first.
